Dr Harshvardhan (Harsha) Sheorey is a Staff Specialist in Microbiology Department, St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne and a part time Staff Specialist in Microbiology Department, Royal Melbourne Hospital. He has extensive and varied experience in clinical microbiology having worked both in Australia and India. His interests include Parasitology, Ocular microbiology, Mycology and Mycobacteriology and has organised numerous workshops in parasitology, ocular microbiology and mycology. He co-ordinates an international e-Diagnosis expert group in parasitology.
He is also involved in organising the scientific programs for Royal College of Pathology of Australasia, Australian Society of Microbiology and the Parasitology Master Class and does regular webinars and lecture for the RCPA, University of Melbourne and the Pacific Islands Medical and Laboratory staff.
His special interest is in clinical parasitology and tropical medicine and has written a book titled “Clinical Parasitology – a handbook for medical practitioners and microbiologists”, a third edition of which is in preparation. He is an invited writer for the ASM Manual of Clinical Microbiology and has written the chapter on Nematodes for the last 5 editions of the manual.
