YOUR HOST CITY: ADELAIDE
Colourful cultural events, a thriving restaurant and small bar scene and fine wine make Adelaide a must-visit destination.
The bustling city of Adelaide is brimming with events that excite, restaurants that inspire and beaches that make you feel at ease. What’s more, Adelaide sits right at the foot of three incredible wine regions that produce both world-renowned and under-the-radar wines. So when you visit, make sure you leave enough time to experience the city and explore its stunning surrounds.
Home to around one million people, the city is surrounded by a diverse range of landscapes , including green parkland, the Mount Lofty Ranges and coastal beaches.
Twenty is the magic number when it comes to Adelaide. You can be in the city centre within 20 minutes from the airport. Or you can sink into sandy beaches, hike in the hills, and dine among the vines, all within 20 minutes of the central business district. South Australia’s capital has an enviable geography, but you don’t have to travel 20 minutes to connect with nature. There are tranquil inner-city green spaces to explore too, from historic parklands to eucalyptus-lined riverside trails.
The Traditional Owners of the Adelaide region are the Kaurna people. The area of the city centre and surrounding Park Lands is called Tarndanya in the Kaurna language. It is divided into two parts, Adelaide and North Adelaide, separated by the Torrens River.
Further afield, the Fleurieu Peninsula is celebrated for its stunning coastline and acclaimed wine regions, explore the outback in the vast landscape of the Flinders Ranges, take a short flight to the seafood capital of Australia, Port Lincoln, or indulge in a luxury escape on the world renowned Kangaroo Island.
You are never too far away from your next adventure.
